SECTION / 01
The complete NIKON IMAGE SPACE migration workflow
Treat migration as a sequence with separate evidence at each stage. A completed Nikon download is the source, a Photo Archive Rescue plan describes the proposed local result, and the final check confirms whether the copied files match that source.
Download through Nikon
Use Nikon’s official service while account access remains available. Confirm every expected download completes.
Follow the download and import guidePreserve the original ZIP
Keep Nikon’s downloaded archive unchanged and work from a separate copy when extracting or organising files.
Inspect and organise locally
Inventory photographs, videos, Nikon RAW files and available metadata before creating a separate organised destination.
Verify the rescued copy
Check every expected destination file for presence, size and matching SHA-256 content before deleting or moving any source.
Follow the archive-verification workflowChoose the next destination
Import the verified output into a local library, external storage, NAS, cloud provider or gallery according to its purpose.
Compare storage and sharing destinations
SECTION / 02
Start with the official shutdown dates
Nikon says normal NIKON IMAGE SPACE service ends on 15 October 2026 at 9:00 AM Japan Standard Time. Its bulk-download period ends on 15 April 2027 at 1:00 PM Japan Standard Time, when Nikon says remaining stored data will be deleted.
SECTION / 03
Download before you reorganise
Use Nikon’s official service while access is available. Keep every downloaded ZIP part together and retain an untouched copy before extracting, renaming, deduplicating or moving files. Photo Archive Rescue never needs your Nikon credentials.
SECTION / 04
Understand what the export proves
Inventory file counts, formats, sizes, embedded metadata, sidecars and unusual items. Online albums or tags may be service-only information unless the export contains evidence that establishes those relationships.
SECTION / 05
Preserve photographic evidence
Treat embedded capture dates separately from Windows created or modified dates. Keep NEF, NRW, JPEG, video and sidecar files until their role is understood, and never replace a RAW original with a convenient derivative.
SECTION / 06
Create and verify an independent copy
Write rescued files to a destination separate from the source. A green VERIFIED result requires every expected destination item to be present with the expected size and a matching SHA-256 fingerprint.
SECTION / 07
Follow the research without invented findings
The export study remains a published protocol until representative shutdown exports are examined. Album fidelity, sidecar behaviour, tag export, duplicate naming and large-account partitioning remain explicitly untested.
